  • Overview

    Document/Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing product environmental compliance as it pertains to Electrical and Electronic Product (EEP). Ensure Zebra products meet global product related regulations where our products are sold. Additionally, driving Zebra initiatives, programs and other assignments as directed by Environmental Compliance manager. Working closely with Sr. Compliance Specialists, internal and cross-functional teams. Be a role model in projecting and applying Zebra core values (Integrity, Teamwork, Accountability, Agility, and Innovation).


    • Process compliance requests for internal and external customers in the areas like but not limited to environmental compliance regulations RoHS, REACH SVHC, WEEE, California Proposition 65, China RoHS, Taiwan RoHS, Conflict Minerals etc.
    • Processing and validating Material Declarations (MD) in Agile-PLM system to ensure suppliers data meets necessary due diligence. Conduct regular follow-ups and ensure schedules are meet.
    • Process Material Change (MC’s) to sync compliance data in ERP.
    • Support registration and audit requirements from Green Electronics Council (GEC) allowing Zebra to achieve and maintain it’s EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) prouct certification.
    • Create Product Recycling Information (PRI) sheets to ensure compliance with recycling regulations.
    • Analyze new regulations and provide updates to internal stakeholders.
    • Evaluate risks for exposure to non-compliance and make recommendations to the team.
    • Provide support as a “subject matter expert” on various product environmental compliance topics to NPI, engineering teams, and other business units.
    • Provide training on related compliance procedures to internal and external customers.
    • Interacte with Zebra suppliers and business units globally as needed.
    • Run product compliance reports and further analyze them to ensure business is meeting global environmental compliance requirements.
    • Provide regular progress status report and monthly metrics to the Engineering manager.
    • Create SOPs, guides, templates, and other documentation when needed maintaining best practices.
    • Maintain and update business process documentation
    • Monitor business processes and dentify where efficiencies and improvements can be made
    • Lead and drive Zebra initiatives and other assignments.
    • Use skills with a full understanding of industry best practices and Zebra policies and procedures.
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal team members as well as customers.


    Preferred Education:

    Education in Engineering, Chemistry or Environmental disciplined preferred

    Preferred Work Experience (years):

    1-3 years preferably in electronics industry (Beginner to Intermediate level)

    Key Skills and Competencies:

    ·        Product (Electrical and Electronic Environmental) compliance knowledge

    ·        Regulatory compliance

    ·        Agile-PLM or similar database systems

    ·        Product Structure (BOM) knowledge

    ·        Data Management

    ·        Change Management

    ·        Business Process Improvement

    ·        Business Process Documentation Management

    ·        Excellent written and verbal communications skills

    ·        Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and Energy Star standards

    ·        Knowledge of product stewardship and /or sustainability.

    ·        Working knowledge of concepts with program management approaches, tools, and methodologies. Certification from PMI preferred

    ·        Intermediate to advanced skills in PC based documentation tools including MS Office especially with Microsoft Excel

    ·        Working knowledge / experience of technical business unit assigned to (Engineering, Supply Chain, etc.)

    ·        Team player and willingness to take proactive initiatives.

    ·        Familiarity with Zebra products is a plus.
