    Who are we, and What is Systems Engineering?


    In today’s high-tech world, the devices that are changing the way we work, live, play, explore and discover are a complex harmony of many different technologies. Systems Engineers use their talents and multi-disciplinary knowledge to guide the seamless integration of these different technologies in such a way that complex and demanding functions can be performed.


    Excellent Systems Engineering is epitomized in the simple but powerful words of Steve Jobs: “It just works.” However, behind these words is an intricate process of design, evaluations, computations, tests, tradeoffs, etc.


    When you work in our team of Systems Engineers you will be immersed in fast-paced day-to-day activities designing, building and testing systems and machines that will change the world. We love cool tech, trying new things, and having fun.

    Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations

    You will be joining the Systems Engineering team and will be participating in leading edge design activities for state-of-the-art robots as well as rugged mobile computers (including wearable computers). Your responsibilities will include the activities below, in a varying mix depending on the program and on the level of Systems Engineering (SE) staffing for that program:

    • Participate in the Systems Engineering activities aimed at developing both robots and mobile computers.
    • Lead a small team of interns in developing exciting Proof Of Concept (POC) devices (early prototypes).
    • Contribute to design of physical and functional architecture.
    • Evaluate devices already on the market.
    • Test and characterize many types of sensors that could be used on robots and in mobile computers.
    • Define operating states, functional implementations, contribute to UI design.
    • Drive cutting-edge innovation into new products.
    • Work to ensure that product verification is planned early in the program.
    • Work cooperatively with the other assigned leads to achieve the overall product objectives
    • Actively contribute to the implementation of state-of-the-art SE software tools


    Specific Knowledge/Skills

    • Solid understanding of engineering domains – the more diverse, the better (e.g. electrical, RF, mechanical, software, thermal, machine learning, computer vision, autonomous navigation, etc.).
    • Curiosity!
    • Must be excited about 21st Century technologies such as mobile computers, smartphones, cloud-based computing, Internet of Things, self-driving vehicles, modern sensors (e.g. ToF, LIDAR, IMU), etc. (otherwise, why bother working in high-tech?).
    • Creativity in solving problems.
    • Strong interest in (and, if possible, experience in using) mobile computing devices (e.g. smartphones, wearable devices, tablets, mobile Operating Systems such as Windows, Android, iOS).
    • Interest and knowledge of electric vehicles such as autonomous robots, drones, electric cars.
    • Ability to quickly learn to use new and complex software tools. Ability to search out these tools on the internet, test them, and implement them for project-specific tasks.
    • Must be a clear thinker with a focus on delivering cool solutions.
    • Must be well organized with good time management skills.
    • Must work equally well independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
    • Must be able to work on multiple tasks and/or projects at any given time.
    • Experience with MS Office is required.
    • Good verbal and written skills are essential.

    Education: Completed 3rd year Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
