    The Enterprise Mobile Computing (EMC) group within Zebra Technologies is developing highly innovative autonomous mobile computing systems that will be deployed to market-leading customers world-wide



    The  Solutions Architect will will provide technical leadership in the design and development of end-to-end Mobile Automation Solutions.

    The Solutions Architect  will use their broad understanding of technologies, problem solving and design skills to ensure our products are designed in a scalable, efficient and exceed our customers’ expectations

    The Solution Architect will lead architectural analysis of solutions and coordinate feasibility studies and design tradeoffs among the Engineering, Product Management and Program Management stakeholders.

    The Solution Architect will work closely with the product development teams to facilitate any design changes and assist in development efforts as required




    The scope of the architecture on the Mobile Automation projects will include:

    • Design the overall solution for the mobile automation solution including, mobile system, sensor integration, data processing, backend processing and diagnostics and reporting


    • Coordinate designs of various subsystems from other architects and development teams


    • Responsible for major design decisions in the Mobile Automation project


    • Define the principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the mobile automations future-state vision.


    • Working closely with the various functional groups (mechanical, electrical, optical, software, algorithms) and with the Systems Engineering Team to refine Use Cases and Workflows, and transform them into a phased design approach;


    • Leading and Managing key aspects of the design including:
    • Architecture tradeoffs
    • Performance figures (including tracking of the testing)
    • Computing system and subsystem design
    • Optical system design
    • Power system design
    • Compatibility and Interoperability of sub-systems
    • Technical issues (and supporting risk management activities)
    • Defect and Issue Management Tracking using JIRA


    • Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Engineering Science; Masters preferred.
    • 3+ years lead experience in complex system development including knowledge of overall vehicle design, computing platform design, sensor integration (Computer Vision, Navigation, RFID, others), drive train system and power system.
    • Experience in defining new architectures and ability to drive an independent project from an architectural stand point. 
    • Experience with
    • 5 – 10 years of experience with design, specification and development of computing platforms and architectures.
    • Prior experience working in an Agile development team,
    • Prior experience in HW selection, embedded software, server/cloud  infrastructure, data base technologies
    • Experience in ensuring security and privacy concerns are addressed in system designs
    • Prior experience working with Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Navigation algorithms development is an asset.
    • Highly self-motivated individual with the ability to effectively present to senior leads within the Zebra organization.
    • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with ability to positively influence and persuade highly technical associates.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both in person and over the phone/online
    • Experience working in a global organization with geographically distributed teams
