    You will be part of Mechanical Engineering team in Enterprise Mobile Computing (EMC), a world class industry leader in handheld and vehicle mount mobile computer products, under the Enterprise Visibility and Mobility (EVM) of Zebra Technologies, Inc..


    This is a product design position for a senior level mechanical designer with significant and relevant work experience designing rugged electro-mechanical products with large, light weight rigid structure. You will be joining a world class industry leading product development team in Mississauga, Ontario. You will perform mechanical design, analysis, and test of highly innovative autonomous mobile computing systems and solutions from concept to production. You are expected to work effectively either as an individual contributor or as a team leader, and have opportunity to grow into a group leader. 


    You must be able to perform hands on stress and vibration analysis, tolerance analysis and have the ability to solve complex engineering problems independently. Clear and concise verbal and written communication, strong motivation to succeed, and self-direction are required. Advanced knowledge and experience of Creo in part/assembly design, and drafting is required. Expert experience in designing injection molded plastics, Zinc, Aluminum or Magnesium die cast parts, elastomer and sheet metal is required. Understanding and experience in applying GD&T, statistical quality control, FMEA, DFA/DFM is required.

    • A 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution in Canada. or a comparable foreign university.
    • Minimum 8 year product design experience in rugged electro-mechanical products
    • Minimum 8 year experience in ProE/Creo design and drafting applied to industrial and consumer product development.
    • Minimum 8 year experience in injection molded plastic, die cast, elastomer and sheet metal part/assembly design.
    • Experience in autonomous device design and development is a plus
    • Relevant experience in the following is a plus
      • Experience designing lightweight rigid structures requiring precise alignment between substructures and their components.
      • Experience with material selection and metal manufacturing techniques for lightweight cost-sensitive structures.
      • Experience in mid-size electro-mechanical machine design, including imaging functionality and optics integration.
      • Experience in integrating electric drive trains into mobile machines.
      • Experience in designing machines with tight tolerances between components and modules of the machine.
      • Experience in designing machines for low manufacturing cost, high reliability, and ease of serviceability.
    • DFA/DFM experience applied to volume production products.
    • Experience in evaluation tests (IP, drop, shock and vibe, abrasion and corrosion resistance, EMI/EMC, etc) is a plus
    • Experience working with ODM, JDM is a plus
