    Who we are

    The Enterprise Mobile Computing (EMC) group within Zebra Technologies is developing highly innovative autonomous mobile computing systems and solutions that will be deployed to market-leading customers world-wide. Our product development teams are globally distributed and Systems Engineers (SEs) will lead product development activities with both local and remote teams.

     

    Who we need

    Solutions Systems Engineers (SEs) in Zebra will provide technical leadership in the development of end-to-end Mobile Automation Solutions.

    They will use market and customer trends to guide the development of product concepts, will lead architectural analysis of solutions, and will coordinate feasibility studies and design tradeoffs among the Engineering, Product Management and Program Management stakeholders.

    Also, SEs will be responsible for capturing the solution, system, and product requirements, for monitoring their verification, and for assurance of overall solution quality.

    Responsibilities

    The scope of Solutions Systems Engineers in Mobile Automation projects will include:

    • Defining the Use Cases and Workflows;
    • Working closely with the various functional groups (mechanical, electrical, optical, software, algorithms) and with the Solutions Architecture team to refine Use Cases and Workflows, and transform them into structured requirements;
    • Contributing to the design of the solution architecture and the design of the physical embodiment of the mobile system (mechanical, electrical, optical, software, etc);
    • Leading and Managing key aspects of the design including:
    • Architecture tradeoffs
    • Performance figures (including tracking of the testing)
    • Computing system and subsystem design
    • Optical system design
    • Power system design
    • FMEA studies
    • Compatibility and Interoperability of sub-systems
    • Technical issues (and supporting risk management activities)
    • Tracking and Reporting on the product BOM and Cost
    • Defect and Issue Management Tracking using JIRA

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Engineering Science; Masters preferred.
    • 3+ years lead experience in autonomous mobile system development including knowledge of overall vehicle design, computing platform design, sensor integration (Computer Vision, Navigation, RFID, others), drive train system and power system.
    • 5 – 10 years of experience with specification and development of computing platforms and architectures.
    • Demonstrated capability of applying systems engineering analysis and modeling methods.
    • Prior experience working in an Agile development team is an asset.
    • Prior experience working with Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Navigation algorithms development is an asset.
    • Highly self-motivated individual with the ability to effectively present to senior leads within the Zebra organization.
    • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with ability to positively influence and persuade highly technical associates.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both in person and over the phone/online
    • Experience working in a global organization with geographically distributed teams
