Zebra’s Engineering Product Innovation team is seeking an experienced engineer who can lead the development and testing of complex computer vision processing pipelines involving both 2D and 3D sensors.  The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work, is self-motivated & practical in their problem-solving and thrives in a fast-paced, highly-collaborative applied research environment.


  • Gathering operating requirements for use cases as identified by stakeholders.
  • Identifying potential system-level risks that could impact performance of computer vision processing pipelines.
  • Provide analysis on how the system’s processing pipelines, either in production or in development, are affected by various error sources.
  • Provide guidance to testing resources on methods for assessing system performance.
  • Provide guidance to computer vision development team on how to best allocate resource to mitigating system errors.
  • Provide guidance to hardware development team on errors that cannot be addressed purely from software.
  • Communicating system performance metrics not only to immediate stakeholders but also to a wider internal audience.


    • Education:
      • Minimum Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Mathematics or Imaging Science
      • Preferred graduate degree (Masters/PhD in the field of computer vision, physics)
      • 5+ years of camera and optical system development
    • Experience with 3D dimensioning technologies and algorithms
    • Experience with Matlab
    • Experience with quantifying how errors propagate across a pipeline composed of multiple algorithms.
    • Image stream storage technologies
    • Understanding of source control such as GIT
    • Imaging system quality assurance and testing integrated solution
    • Able to grasp new concepts quickly
    • Able to adapt and use these patterns in innovative ways to develop custom solutions
    • Able to take initiative on issues and report results instead of waiting for task lists
    • Knowledge of image processing concepts: exposure fusion, HDR, “focus from defocus”, etc…
    • Knowledge of various optical properties of materials: reflectivity, transparency, polarization, diffusion parameters, etc…
    • Knowledge of optical parameters for 3D sensors: ToF, Structured Light, Stereo systems,
    • Good presentation skills, both prepared and “on demand” talks
