    Zebra’s Engineering Product Innovation team is seeking a highly experienced engineer who can lead development of perception & learning systems using 2D and 3D visioning systems that are Enterprise-grade and ready for real world deployment. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work, is self-motivated & practical in their problem-solving and thrives in a fast-paced, highly-collaborative applied research environment.


    • Evaluation and full Definition of 2D and 3D camera systems. Creation of imaging systems calibration methodology
    • Creating a test bench and evaluation methodology
    • Designing the optical path of object recognition system
    • Lens and camera selection and proposal for defined optical task, establishing lens characteristics requirements, lens parameters calculation, multi-lens systems, working with different lens vendors and lens types, lens testing and characterization (MTF, aberrations, etc…)
    • Illumination selection for specific task: illumination characteristics requirements, illumination systems selection and evaluation, testing and characterization (power, spectrum, etc…)



      • Education:
      • Minimum Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Mathematics or Imaging Science
      • Preferred graduate degree (Masters/PhD in the field of computer vision, physics)
      • 5+ years of camera and optical system development
      • Experience developing compact, small, miniature or micro optical systems
      • Experience with 3D dimensioning technologies and algorithms
      • Experience with optical design and image evaluation tools such as Zemax, Imatest
      • Experience with Matlab
      • Knowledge of imaging sensor characteristics, sensor selection and evaluation, camera selection and integration, testing and characterization
      • Ability to write simple camera evaluation and test program for selected camera (given camera API) for Linux, Windows
      • Knowledge of image processing concepts: exposure fusion, HDR, “focus from defocus”, etc…
      • Knowledge of various optical properties of materials: reflectivity, transparency, polarization, diffusion parameters, etc…
      • Knowledge of optical parameters for 3D sensors: ToF, Structured Light, Stereo systems,
      • Image stream storage technologies
      • Understanding of source control such as GIT
      • Imaging system quality assurance and testing integrated solution
      • Able to grasp new concepts quickly
      • Able to adapt and use these patterns in innovative ways to develop custom solutions
      • Able to take initiative on issues and report results instead of waiting for task lists
      • Good presentation skills, both prepared and “on demand” talks
