Zebra’s Engineering Product Innovation team is seeking a highly experienced computer vision engineer who can lead development of perception & learning systems using 2D and 3D visioning systems that are Enterprise-grade and ready for real world deployment. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work, is self-motivated & practical in their problem-solving and thrives in a fast-paced, highly-collaborative applied research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in computer vision and machine learning algorithms and applications development
  • Develop point cloud processing applications
  • Evaluating existing object recognition algorithms and participating in the implementation of the algorithms into an object recognition system
  • Creating a test bench and evaluation methodology
  • Designing image acquisition, storage and retrieval protocols and procedures for the purpose of object recognition
  • Implementing multi barcode decoding as well as and OCR on high-resolution images
  • Port algorithms to mobile devices

Qualifications

  • Masters/PhD in computer vision or machine learning; alternatively a comparable industry career, with significant experience in delivering products using state-of-the-art computer vision and/or machine learning systems
  • Solid foundation in computer vision; key areas of interest include object detection, tracking and recognition; multiple view geometry, 3D computer vision and SfM/SLAM; activity recognition
  • Scripting and prototyping languages: Python, Matlab, C/C++
  • Generic packages: OpenCV, Point Cloud Library,
  • Experience with Linux, Windows and ROS platforms
  • Understanding of machine learning technology and experience on turning machine learning technologies into practical, state-of-the-art systems
  • Knowledge of Principal Component Analysis, Support Vector Machines architectures, Neural Network applications and other Machine Learning-related topics
  • Able to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Able to adapt and use these patterns in innovative ways to develop custom solutions
  • Able to take initiative on issues and report results instead of waiting for task lists
  • Understanding of source control such as GIT
  • Good presentation skills, both prepared and “on demand” talks

 

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of error correction algorithms, approaches to OCR techniques
  • Experience with 3D sensors data (ToF, Stereo, Structured Light, Lidars)
  • Experience with CUDA drivers, GPGPU programming, Linux architecture and GPGPU acceleration, Robotic OS
  • Image (image stream) real-time processing, compression/decompression, frame search and extraction, format conversion, context-aware image format storage
  • Image context indexing strategies
  • Image analysis, feature extraction, segmentation, object locationing and identification
  • Experience with machine learning software packages such as Caffe, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, etc.
